Taketomi Island Digest
Taketomi Island is a tiny island with just a 9-kilometer circumference located 6 kilometers southwest off Ishigaki Island. Red-tiled houses along white-sand roads keep the traditional Okinawan ambience intact. Visitors can tour the island by riding on a water buffalo wagon. In 1987, the government proclaimed the island as a reserve area.
