Aguni Island
stands on East China Sea, 60 kilometers northwest of Naha City. As a millet
(awa)-growing district, the island came to be called Aguni (district of
awa). Now, sugar cane cultivation and fishery are its major industries.
The island is very fertile so the Japanese sago grows naturally in the
