Izena Island is an island of 16.7 kilometers on the northern part of the Okinawa Main Island. It is said to be the birthplace of King Sho En who established the 2nd Sho Dynasty. The island is surrounded by clear blue sea containing beautiful coral reefs, making it a spectacular diving point. Also, it has many scenic spots and cultural artifacts such as the red-tiled houses of the old Okinawan style so a stroll around the area is both a learning and entertaining experience.
