Aka Island
Aka Island is located on clear coral reef sea, 40 kilometers west of Okinawa Main Island. During the Ryukyu dynasty, it thrived as a relay point of trade goods between Okinawa and China. Today, Aka Island is world famous as a diving site so many international divers are always in the area. Moreover, a primeval forest surrounds the villages in the island, and the keramajika (indigenous deer) that roams the forest is considered a natural treasure.
