Hateruma Island Digest
Hateruma Island is the southernmost inhabited island of Japan. It is a magnificent spot for star gazing because it offers an unimpeded view of the skies. The island is also famous for its awamori (locally-made liquor in Okinawa) called awa. Awa is produced in one of the island communities. Since the amount of awa production is limited due to staff shortage, it is regarded as a rare awamori.
