Sacred Place with Kuba Trees at Awa
The Sacred Place with Kuba Trees at Awa-a hill that is 40 meters high-is a place where local people worship their ancestors' spirits. The hill is located behind the Awa community and is called Kuba-no-utaki (sacred place with Kuba trees) by the community members; particularly, those who serve the gods call Utaki either Muranufusati or Fubanutakiban. There are about 200 Kuba Trees-a variety of palm tree-at the Sacred Place in Awa and local people consider these as holy trees.
