Nago Castle Ruins
Nago Aji, a local chieftain of Nago in the early 14th century, built the Nago Castle. There are no longer traces of the castle on its original site; what is left is an open space for outdoor recreation and observation, with botanical gardens. The observation platform allows a magnificent view of downtown Nago that is why from January to February, the Nago Cherry Blossom Viewing-the earliest in Japan-is held at the Nago Castle Ruins.
