Nakahara Riding Ground
The Nakahara Riding Ground was used as a racetrack for horses up to the early Showa Period. Ryukyu Pine Trees stand on both sides of the 30-meter wide and 250-meter long racetrack. In the old days, there were similar riding spots in each village that were also used as a meeting place for other village events. Most of these were, however, destroyed during the battle of Okinawa or converted into agricultural lands or housing sites. The Nakahara Riding Ground is today the only one that has preserved the appearance of racetracks in the old days.
