Sabichi Limestone Cave
The Sabichi Cave-created around 170 million years ago due to the upheaval of the seabed-is located in the north of Ishigaki Island. It is 324 meters long and stalactites that hang down from the ceiling give the cave its mysterious atmosphere. Adding to the mystery are some giant eels said to live in a pond within the cave that connects to the sea.
