the Sacred Place of Shirumichu
There is a large cave in the woods at the south-southeast of the island. It is believed that "Amamichu" and "Shirumichu", the gods of the beginning of the Ryukyus lived there by the local people. At the beginning of the year, a prietess of Higa community and the people pray for the gods by putting a pebble of seashore into a pot settled inside the cave. With the grave of Amamichu, it is considered as a sacred place.
