Futenma Shrine
Futenma Shrine is located in central Okinawa. The date when the shrine was built is unknown. The shrine has two toriis-one at the entrance and the other, found inside-which is rare among shrines in Okinawa. During the Okinawa Battle, the shrine was destroyed; but was rebuilt in 1950. Today, the Futenma Shrine is known as one of the eight Okinawa shrines that were given special treatment by the Sho Dynasty, which ruled before the Meiji period.
