Sightseeing Spot・
The Bise
community, found at the west end of the Motobu Peninsula, has the most
number of Fukugi trees in the Okinawa Main Island; in fact, the community
is totally surrounded by these evergreen broadleaf trees. The Fukugi trees,
which originated from the Philippines, were initially planted all over
Okinawa for protection against typhoon or raging sea waves. Presently,
it is still possible to find sturdy Fukugi trees that are over 300 years
old in Bise.Fukugi Trees at Bise Related Contents
